Senior Hamas officials echoed President Joe Biden's separate statement that an agreement to release hostages captured Oct. 7 could be reached soon — though similar announcements have proven premature. Hamas said Israel in exchange would free Palestinian prisoners. Meanwhile, Israeli forces in northern Gaza battled Hamas militants outside Indonesian Hospital, which still has thousands of patients and displaced people inside. |

2. NAVY PLANE'S CLOSE CALL |
All nine people aboard a U.S. Navy plane escaped unharmed after the P-8A aircraft overshot its runway in rainy weather and landed in the ocean outside Honolulu on Monday afternoon, military officials said. The plane, similar to a 737 commercial jet, is often used to hunt for submarines and gather intelligence. |

The main way that racial gerrymandering is challenged — lawsuits from individuals and groups like the NAACP — has been removed in seven states after an appeals court said only the U.S. attorney general can enforce that section of the Voting Rights Act. The case will likely be appealed to the Supreme Court, but for now the lawsuits are banned from North Dakota and Minnesota south to Arkansas. |

You can request four more free Covid-19 tests by mail if you didn't order any in September, when the federal government last made free tests available. With just 14% of adults getting the latest vaccine and winter ahead of us, it can't hurt to have a few extra tests on hand. Plus, the USPS delivers them for free. |

5. WHAT'S OPEN ON THANKSGIVING? |
Not Walmart, Target, Costco or Sam's Club. Depending on where you live, one of your local grocery chains might be open (with reduced hours). Check our list here. |

6. THANKSGIVING ON OZEMPIC |
People who have lost a lot of weight on Ozempic since last Thanksgiving are approaching the holiday this year without dread. Since they're thinner now, they won't have every bite held against them. Many won't feel like eating much or at all anyway, because they get full so quickly or because they've come to expect nausea, vomiting and diarrhea after meals. Maybe the next wonder drug will cure people of judgmentally ruining their relatives' holidays. |

7. HOLIDAY TRAVEL WITH POINTS |
If holiday flights are looking more expensive than you expected, check your credit card points for potentially redeemable miles and any airline travel credits you may have from canceled or delayed flights. If the credits are going to expire before you can use them, try this workaround. |

Everyone knows it's good to warm up before a workout. But how do you actually do it? It turns out there are better exercises than the aggressive little shrugs and hopping in place we must have seen in a boxing movie. |

9. DONOR SHOCKS SMALL TOWN |
Geoffrey Holt lived a quiet, modest life in Hinsdale, N.H., where he was groundskeeper at a mobile home park for years. He was also a secret multimillionaire who, when he died in June at age 82, left his entire $3.8 million estate to the small town. |

10. VERY EXPENSIVE JERSEYS |
Six jerseys worn by Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi en route to victory in last year's World Cup could become the most expensive sports memorabilia of all time. Sotheby's New York, which opens bidding on Nov. 30, last year sold the current record holder: $10.1 million for a 1998 NBA finals jersey worn by Michael Jordan. No matter how well Sotheby's organizes this auction, it will be Messi.
