For the second time in two weeks, a child migrating from Latin America has died in U.S. custody. The 8-year-old girl, who had a heart condition and was being held with her family at an overcrowded Customs and Border Protection facility, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. More people have been arriving at the border since last week, when the expiration of the pandemic emergency ended the CBP's emergency rule to automatically deport asylum seekers. |

The tech companies' victory is only temporary, because justices can still take up a future case challenging the law that shields companies from liability for user content. |

To all the mail marauders and letter larcenists out there: Watch out, because the Postal Service is installing 12,000 high-security collection boxes (i.e., those blue things on the sidewalk) that use electronic keys. It's also ending third-party address changes to crack down on fraudulent mail rerouting. |

Car seats that hook into anchor bars may not work in more than 668,000 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain SUVs because they have too much powder coating on them, according to General Motors, which is recalling the vehicles. Owners of certain 2020 to 2023 models of the small SUVs should install car seats using the seat belts until they can make it into a dealer for a potential fix. If you're counting, this is the third straight day with a major auto recall story. |

Nearly two decades after a pair of Dorothy's ruby red slippers went missing, a man has been indicted by a grand jury for stealing them from a museum in Judy Garland's hometown of Grand Rapids, Minn. Just one of four pairs remaining that were worn by Garland in 1939's The Wizard of Oz, they're estimated at $3.5 million and are culturally significant enough to indict Terry Martin with theft of a major artwork. He's off to see the jury, the wonderful jury of federal court. |

Even the best underwater footage of the Titanic has been limited by the lack of light and murky water on the ocean floor. But now researchers have used a deep-sea scanning technology to create a detailed one-to-one digital scan of the sunken vessel. The model will be used in a documentary next year, but eventually people will be able to tour the ship in virtual reality. |
