2. BIDEN IMPEACHMENT HEARING |
House Republicans will hold their first impeachment inquiry hearing into President Joe Biden today. So far, no investigations have found evidence that Biden has used his office to enrich his family or to obstruct investigations into Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings. After all its hearings are concluded, the committee can vote on sending articles of impeachment to the full House. |

Travis King is in U.S. custody after North Korea released him two months after he raced across the South Korean border instead of getting on a plane to face military discipline over his conviction for assault in a Seoul nightclub. The U.S. said it did not give any concessions in return for King's release, which was quite quick by North Korean standards. |

Dozens of suspected thieves faced criminal charges in Philadelphia on Wednesday following allegedly coordinated burglaries Tuesday night at locations for Apple, Lululemon, Foot Locker and state-run liquor stores. Police said the mass theft was not related to protests earlier that evening over a judge's decision to dismiss charges against a police officer who fatally shot a man through his closed car window. |

Hyundai and Kia are asking the owners of 3.4 million vehicles in the U.S. to park them outside their garages because the engine compartments could catch fire and spread to their homes. About two dozen models from 2010 to 2019 may leak brake fluid and create an electrical short that can start a fire. Owners can get the brake fuses fixed for free.
Silver lining: No one can steal a Hyundai or Kia for a TikTok challenge if the car is on fire.

The court's judgments are legally binding and a victory for the plaintiffs, aged 11 to 24, could result in large fines for the 32 defendant states. |

Fatal car crashes have risen 43% since 2011, and 64% for crashes that kill cyclists and pedestrians, according to federal data. Auto safety experts point to ever-larger SUVs and trucks — which vastly outsell cars — that give drivers larger blind spots and make crashes more severe. More people have also been speeding, driving drunk or not wearing seatbelts. |
