The World Health Organization evacuated 31 premature babies in critical condition from Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza on Sunday, but more than 250 patients needing urgent care remain there nearly a week after Israeli forces first entered it. The babies were evacuated to a southern Gaza hospital and will go next to Egypt. In the Red Sea, Houthi rebels backed by Iran captured an Israeli-linked cargo ship and are holding its 25 crew members hostage. |

2. REMEMBERING ROSALYNN CARTER |
Former first lady Rosalynn Carter, who died Sunday at age 96, was praised for her advocacy for mental health and global public health and remembered as a uniquely influential first lady. Carter sat in on Cabinet meetings during her husband's single White House term and many aides trusted her political instincts over his. Jimmy Carter is 99 and entered hospice care in February. |

United Auto Workers members at Ford and Stellantis approved new five-year contracts with nearly 70% support, winning 33% raises and officially ending the labor dispute with the Big Three automakers that shut down some of their factories and facilities for up to six weeks. General Motors workers approved a similar contract last week. IN OTHER BUSINESS NEWS: OpenAI no longer wants ChatGPT guru Sam Altman, but Microsoft sure does. Altman and another executive late last week parted ways with OpenAI in a move that stunned the artificial intelligence world, and early today Microsoft announced it hired them "to lead a new advanced AI research team." |

IBM, NBCUniversal and Disney have stopped advertising on X, formerly known as Twitter, after a media watchdog report showed the social media platform was placing their ads and others' next to posts from accounts that praise Adolf Hitler, promote Nazism and advocate violence against Jews and LGBTQ+ people. Another factor was owner Elon Musk's endorsement of an antisemitic conspiracy theory. |

5. BEST OF TIMES, WORST OF TIMES |
Inflation continues to cool off and the unemployment rate hasn't remained below 4% this long since the 1960s, so why did three out of four people tell Associated Press pollsters that the economy is poor? One big reason is that we still remember how much cheaper things were not that long ago. Another reason: For a lot of us, our pay has either stayed flat or barely covered the rising cost of gas, food and rent. |

President Biden will spend part of his 81st birthday pardoning two Thanksgiving turkeys at the White House, continuing a tradition dating to 1947. The turkeys spared today, Liberty and Bell, are 5 months old and were raised in Willmar, Minn. We do not know the name of the turkey Biden won't be pardoning at his Thanksgiving dinner Thursday. |

Sleep experts say it's easier to get good z's when you have a routine, but the holiday season completely changes those routines with parties, performances, gatherings and often a lot of travel. Dr. Rebecca Robbins shared how we can keep up our sleep hygiene during the holidays by setting social boundaries, limiting big meals later in the day and shifting our pre-flight routine to take the edge off jet lag. |

The Hunger Games prequel A Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes topped the pre-Thanksgiving box office with $44 million in its opening weekend, less than half the typical debut sales of the original Hunger Games films. The third installment in the Trolls animated series earned about $31 million while The Marvels had a record 78% drop in sales from its already disappointing debut weekend. |

What's the latest you've ever returned a library book? A few months? A year? You've got nothing on this overdue book recently returned to the St. Paul Public Library in Minnesota. It had been checked out in 1919. Does this mean it's not too late to return our eighth-grade school copy of To Kill a Mockingbird? |

SAVE ON HOLIDAY CAR RENTALS |
Already high car rental prices are getting even worse over the holiday season. Consumer Reports' Mike Quincy shared ways to avoid extra charges, including checking for discounts through your Costco membership, sticking with your own auto insurance and renting outside of the airport. Oh, and make sure to disconnect your Android Auto and Apple Carplay before you return your car — you don't want your data used by whoever rents it next. |
