Trump picks close ally John Ratcliffe for director of CIA

President-elect Donald Trump plans to nominate John Ratcliffe to serve as his director of the CIA, the Trump-Vance transition said Tuesday.

The former four-term Republican member of Congress served under Trump as Director of National Intelligence, where he burnished his reputation as a close ally of the president and a deep skeptic of the nation's spy agencies.

Ratcliffe is unlikely to face stiff resistance given that a Republican-led Senate confirmed him for the DNI role four years ago — when one of the biggest knocks against him was his lack of experience in the intelligence world.
